Bios/contact info

Group founder and lead vocalist Paul Bezilla is singing straight from the heart every time he steps on stage. Born in the heart of coal mining country in the Appalachian mountains, his sound is hard won.   Queuing between guitar, 5 string banjo and mandolin, you will always find him working hard to get the sound just right.

Originally hailing from southern Manitoba and possessing a gift for harmony, vocalist Cynthia Hiebert is  playing either the upright bass, autoharp or six string guitar. She values her privacy and so prefers ” to let the mystery be”.

His beard is listed on his organ donor card. He once had an awkward moment just to see what it feels like. He can speak Ukrainian - in English! Even his enemies list him as their emergency contact. He doesn't always play in a band , but when he does, he’s our guitar player/vocalist -  Pat Wakshinski!

Yet another unsung hero in the success of StillStanding is Pauls electronics/computer guru Greg Moeller. There has never been a technical problem/electronic theory discussion that this man has not been able to steer in the right direction. If he doesn’t know  -  it likely hasn’t been invented yet. Which as never really stopped either of us . We are currently working on a flux capacitor.

A frequent fixture at our shows these days is our unofficial sound man  and Pauls sound engineer mentor,Thomas Jefferson. Tom is one of the tireless volunteers helping to make the Winnipeg coffeehouse scene great and we cannot thank him enough for the time he manages to find to help us out.

If you noticed a big upswing in the quality of our live audio and video in 2010 it is likely  due to the hard work of Scott Brooker. Another one  of Paul’s barking mad geek friends, Scott came on the road with us a couple of times and began documenting us as we performed. Personally responsible for blowing up our generator we are hoping to have him join us again in 2011 to work it off.

Newest member to StillStanding is our friend Esther Toews.  Originally hailing from Germany she now resides close enough to attend all of our practices and her enthusiasm for what we do has made a big difference in the band. Already a prolific songwriter and possessing a sense of timing  on guitar you could set a metronome to, you can hear her harmonies and occasional lead vocals on pretty much everything we sing these days.
